How it works

  1. Step 1: Tell us the whole project

Countertops, backsplash, fireplace wall or other updates.

  2. Step 2: Get one estimate

We list each part of the work so you can see what is included.

  3. Step 3: Templating and planning

We measure the stone and plan the order of the work.

  4. Step 4: Installation

Countertops go in first, then the finishing work around them.

Can you make a backsplash from the same stone?

Yes. A backsplash cut from the same slab as your countertops matches color and veining exactly. It can be a short splash along the wall, a full height panel behind the range hood, or stone that runs up to the upper cabinets or the ceiling. You will find all of these in our project gallery. Matching stone is especially striking with veined quartzite countertops and marble look quartz.

Do you install tile backsplashes?

Tile backsplashes are part of our project gallery, from marble subway tile to glass mosaics. Tile adds texture and contrast next to a quiet countertop, and it is a good way to bring in color without committing to a bold slab.

Can you build a stone fireplace surround?

Our gallery includes fireplace and TV walls clad in porcelain slabs with waterfall edges, in quartzite and in exotic stone. Large porcelain slabs are a popular choice for walls, because they are light for their size and come in dramatic marble looks; see porcelain countertops for how the material works.

What should I plan around new countertops?

When old tops come out, they have to come off carefully to protect your cabinets. The sink, faucet, garbage disposal and dishwasher also have to be disconnected and reconnected, and the sink should wait 24 to 48 hours after installation so the silicone can cure. Our countertop installation page explains how installation day works.

How do I get started?

Make a list of everything you want to update, take a few photos, and request your countertop estimate. You can also visit our Nokomis showroom to choose stone and talk through the plan in person.

Remodeling questions

Why choose a full height stone backsplash?

A full height backsplash cut from the same slab as your countertops has no grout lines, so it is easy to wipe clean, and the veining can flow from the counter up the wall. It works behind a range hood, up to the upper cabinets or all the way to the ceiling. It is a striking choice with marble look stones.

Do I need to remove my backsplash to replace countertops?

Often, at least in part. A short stone backsplash usually comes off with the old countertop. Tile that runs down to the counter can crack during removal, so many homeowners replace it at the same time. We look at your backsplash during the estimate and explain what is likely to happen, so there are no surprises on installation day.

What is a two tier bar, and can it be lowered?

A two tier bar is a raised ledge on a half wall behind the kitchen counter, common in Florida homes built a few decades ago. Lowering it to counter height opens the kitchen and creates one continuous surface. The work involves carpentry and moving outlets, so plan it before your countertops are templated.
